Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe, a mixed race British-Nigerian child, was born to a family in South London. The mother of her child is English and her father is Nigerian. Her family was on the southern part of London Council Estate. She was a student at The Brit School aged 14. In London she attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in which her acting diploma was earned. In her time at the school, she performed in a variety of stage productions including the King Henry V's Princess Katherine or Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe first began her acting career with Storm Damage. In the years since, she's been a guest star on Teachers, Doctors, Casualty as well as Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's breakout came with 2007's Woody Allen movie Cassandra's Dream. It was opposite Colin Farrell (who played the part of Cassandra) and Ewan McGrath. Following this acclaim, she played Elisha in her role on the BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN and was featured on six of the episodes Trexx as well as Flipside. Also, the ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl saw her in the year 2008 as Bambi. Madekwe was the main character on How to Lose Friends And Alienate Others. The comedy that was released in the year 2008. Performance credits for Madekwe include Little Sweet Thing and Flight Path.
Madekwe was chosen to play Ashley Davenport in ABC's show The Beautiful Life. The two-episode series aired for just 2 weeks at The CW and then it was cancelled. She was cast in February 2011 in the role of Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. Following her appearance as a regular on the first two seasons the show was announced late May 2013 that Madekwe was set to quit the show following a guest appearance in the premiere episode from the 3rd season. She starred as Tituba in the TV show Salem between 2014 and 2016. Her long-time friend, Iddo, married Madekwe in June 2012. The two have collaborated in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and he has also appeared alongside Madekwe on the TV show Salem.
Ashley Leggat was born in Hamilton, Ontario, into the extended family of a huge, large. Her family included her parents Roy and Patty along with four of their older brothers: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. Ashley's four brothers, each of them extremely physically active, were all playing hockey in the winter and baseball during the summers, meaning they grew up mostly in parks and arenas. Ashley didn't walk, instead she danced. When she was two and a half, she was introduced to Baby Ballet. Ashley was enthralled by dance after this. When she was in the high school she attended, Ashley danced competitively in the highest divisions of tap, jazz, ballet, pointe, acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical and hip hop. Additionally, she was awarded the top awards for soloists in every major dance contests, like the International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, among others.
