
Allison Brooks Janney, born on the 19th of November, 1959 in America is an American actress. The actress is known for her work across various types of screen and stage over a three-decade career. Janney was awarded various awards such as the Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, the Golden Globe Award, and seven Primetime Emmy Awards, in the midst of nominations to win two Tony Awards. Janney was born in Boston, and raised at home in Dayton (Ohio). Her career began when she received a scholarship for studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art after graduating from Kenyon College. Janney was first seen on television in 1999 in the role of C. J. Cregg, a role she played in the political drama of NBC The West Wing (2000-2006). The role earned her four Primetime Emmy Awards for this part. In 2014, she was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series due to her performance as Margaret Scully on the Showtime period drama Masters of Sex.
